About Kate

With over a decade of teaching experience in both the state and independent sector where I have taught a variety of students with diverse learning needs. I have spent that time developing a number of strategies to allow my teaching style to adapt to the nuances of those in front of me; meaning the individual is able to make progress at their own pace.

One-to-one tutoring is the idealistic opportunity to make progress that being in a classroom cannot compete with.

Teaching Experience

Over a decade of teaching experience in a variety of schools catering to a whole host of needs. Latterly I was the Head of Sixth Form and then Assistant Head Pastoral at leading independent school, see below for additional support I am able to offer due to my experience.

Qualifications

MA Masters in Educational Innovation in Mathematics Teaching (Warwick University)

PGCE in Secondary Mathematics Teaching (Warwick University)

BSc Mathematics Degree (University of Birmingham)

A-Levels in Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Fine Art.

Additional Experience

I am able to offer support in applications for University as well as entrance exams and mock interviews.

What to expect when having tuition with Kate

  • A-Level Mathematics Specialist

    As a specialist in Maths A-level and GCSE, I excel in breaking down complex mathematical concepts into simple, understandable parts. With a passion for teaching, I ensure that my students not only understand the material but also develop a deep appreciation for the subject. My goal is to help students achieve their full potential and excel in their mathematical studies.

  • Resources

    For each lesson students will go away with lesson notes, additional examples or bespoke questions for them to attempt. All of the resources available in the shop are included in the price of tutoring (see section 3 of the T&Cs). I am also happy to provide resources on other topics that are not covered during our tutoring sessions allowing students to work independently (see section 3 of the T&Cs).

  • University support

    With over ten years of teaching experience as well as my time of being Head of Sixth form at a leading independent school, I am able to offer additional support with UCAS and University applications. Equally, I have a large number of contacts in variety of industries for potential apprenticeships or job opportunities. I am able to offer one off consultancy appointments to help support with this; equally this is also offered as part of my tutoring services (see section 11 of T&C).

    Tutoring online provides the flexibility to schedule sessions at convenient times, eliminating the need for travel and saving valuable time. With access to a vast array of digital resources, online tutoring allows for a personalised learning experience tailored to the individual student's needs. Additionally, online platforms often offer interactive tools that enhance engagement and make learning more enjoyable and effective.

  • Cost of Tuition

    My one-to-one tutoring rates are inline with top quality tutoring at £100 per hour. Of course through services such as 'Find a Tutor' sites you can find cheaper alternatives, but what I am able to offer is superior expert advice and guidance and my sessions are also inclusive of high quality resources that have been used by students who have seen outstanding success.

    I am abundantly aware that undertaking tutoring can be a big financial commitment; therefore if my calendar allows, I will aim to find some time to tutor which are every other week. Whilst I would be advising a minimum of once a week for optimum results, it can help to reduce the costs, whilst still offering students high quality support.
